Fear of Jewish Identity

I made this movie with the purpose of empowering us, and its release at this time was not a coincidence. The message is direct and clear: (Be proud to be Jewish).

A few weeks ago, when I first shared the movie I made about the passing of my son, "SHOLEM Soul Goal," I realized why it had taken so long to complete. Hashem, in His infinite wisdom, determines the perfect moments, and in this era marked by antisemitism, speaking about Jewish identity becomes an act of deep and necessary empowerment.

I concluded the movie with the powerful words "Be proud to be Jewish," and I sent it to a friend of Sholem z”l who is studying in Boston. Her comments resonated deeply: "Today, many women feel afraid to showcase their Judaism in university, and this film is like a strengthening injection, an act of empowering our Jewish identity."

A few days later, as I placed the new sticker of the movie on my car with the inscription "Be proud... to be Jewish," I had a momentary hesitation. An almost-forgotten fear surfaced: could someone damage my vehicle for displaying my Jewish identity? Despite the doubt, I chose to stick it, recalling the encouraging words of the young woman from Boston. I questioned the reason for my hesitation, and the answer was clear. I remembered the challenging times during the military regime in Argentina when being Jewish also posed a risk.

Back then, the courage of youth propelled me; nothing could stop me. However, on October 7th, a range of emotions stirred within me. But there's one, in particular, that I don't want to let grow: the fear of having to hide my true identity.

I made this movie with that purpose: to empower us. Its release at this time was not a coincidence. The message is direct and clear: (Be proud to be Jewish).

  1. Estoy convencida que la forma de fortalecer nuestro judaísmo es ser, estar y fomentar nuestra identidad.
El silencio y el ocultar nuestra fe es la manera de aumentar el antisemitismo y hacerlo fuerte.
